Louise: The Last Days of the Decade

The last few days have been my favourite days of the whole year!

I’ve put half of the weight that I’ve lost back on, from eating the most gorgeous food in the world, cooked by my wonderful mother. We are still living on leftovers, and I can see that continuing for the next few days. It’s so nice just being able to go to the cupboard and snack on healthy tidbits, without having to worry about eating regularly or cooking for myself. And one of my resolutions (well, more than one actually) are related to cooking as you will see further down this entry.

I mentioned going on Atkins in my last entry: I’m not going to do that. You girls were right, it is unhealthy. And I know that. I’m going to keep a low-carb diet, but not cut out carbs completely. I don’t really eat bread or chips anyway, so it’s not going to be a massive change.

I’ll miss having everything at my fingertips, including my mum and my dad.

That’s the best part of being at home, isn’t it? Being looked after. And having the company of the ones you love. I only go home for about 3 weeks out of the year in total, and every time I go home it gets harder to leave again. But this year, I have my own gorgeous house to go home to, and don’t have to worry about messy housemates or uncontrollable noise. So this year, I am so much happier about going back to Newcastle. I’m not looking forward to it, but it won’t be as sad as it usually is. I’m proud of myself for this huge development.

I have made the following resolutions for 2010, and I will stick to them come Hell or high water:

- Focus less on my appearance.
- Do things because I want to, not because I should.
- Cook every single day.
- Eat breakfast before 11am every single day – home-made on my days off.
- Wash up after every meal, not leave it for hours.
- Enjoy men, not require them.

I am happy with each and every one of these, as I feel they will make me a better, more rounded person, who is ultimately healthier and happier than she was in 2009.

Happy New Year (even though its a few days early). What are your resolutions to keep you happy and healthy in the forthcoming year?
