Hi! I'm a naturopathy student, writer and self-confessed chocolate addict living in Melbourne, Australia. I spend most of my time studying and thinking about Nutrition, Homoeopathy, Flower Essences, Iridology and Western herbal medicine. I love to try new and interesting foods and alternative health practices (in the last chapter of Getting Healthy I tried quinoa and dry brushing) and I am always on the look-out for something to try. If there is anything you'd like me to try or write about, do let me know!
Goal: To go back to school in March 2010 with a whole new body, a muscular, lithe, panther of a body. I plan to achieve this by putting in place an exercise routine and healthy eating habits that, hopefully, will last a lifetime. I'm not so much concerned with dress size and weight as I know from experience that thin does not always equal healthy. My goal is to reach the highest level of health that I can, whatever that means for me.
Stats: Age: 25, Height: 165cm (5'4"), Weight: 60kg (132), Clothing size: 10 on top (US size 6), 12 on the bottom (US size 8).

I’m convinced that the week either side of New Years’ Eve has some kind of special mojo that enables me to achieve things I have been struggling with all year. New Years’ Eve is my most favourite day of the year, followed closely by the 1st [...]
Week Six: Honesty Posted in CH.II, Getting Healthy on 22 December 2009 You know those people who are addicted to helping? Who will go out of their way to solve other people’s problems, but won’t touch their own? I think I’m one of them. In my everyday life I try to help people solve their health problems by telling them about the healthy living tools that I’ve [...]
Gauri: Week 5: The Work Posted in CH.II, Getting Healthy on 15 December 2009 I’ve realised that most of the things that are stopping me from eating and exercising properly right now are emotional in nature: I have had conflict with friends lately
Gauri: Week Four: How to remember to eat Posted in CH.II, Getting Healthy on 8 December 2009 I am so far off the wagon that the wagon has not only disappeared around the corner but is now trundling off to Sydney.
Gauri: Week 3: Of Feelings and Flower Essences Posted in CH.II, Getting Healthy on 1 December 2009 This week I began a course of Australian Bush Flower Essences. In a nutshell, Flower Essences are energetic preparations, made from flowers, that can be used to heal emotional and spiritual blocks. There is very little of the physical flower left in a Flower Essence, and only the flower’s vital energy remains (kind of like [...]
Gauri: Week Two: Wagon? What wagon? Posted in CH.II, Getting Healthy on 24 November 2009 Is it possible to fall off the wagon before having really got on?
Gauri: Week One Survey Posted in CH.II, Getting Healthy on 17 November 2009 My “Getting Healthy” Info 2. We all know that numbers never give us the big picture. When you think of your body – its size, shape, strength and health – how do you feel?
Final week: Video wrap-up Posted in CH.I, Getting Healthy on 28 October 2009 Hey there!
Week Seven: Body knows best Posted in CH.I, Getting Healthy on 19 October 2009 Yesterday morning, during the cardio phase of my work-out, I noticed something was wrong. My muscles were stiff, I felt more tired and dizzy than usual, and dancing like a nut to 90’s hits wasn’t having the usual beneficial effect on my mood. I considered stopping my work-out, but decided to put the sensations out [...]
Week Six: Drunk on dry brushing Posted in CH.I, Getting Healthy on 13 October 2009 Whoops. Google is telling me that it is now Tuesday in America, and I have missed my updating day. This is because I am almost drowning in uni work (five assignments and four exams in six weeks — panic ! panic !) and my memory is like a sieve when it comes to the rest [...] |
